In the essay, the author questions the age-old question of the autonomy of ecclesiastical law, believing that in order to innovate this area, a constitutional revision of the constitutional norms relating to the religious fact is necessary, and only with such a procedure can one truly speak of freedom and equality in religious matters, setting aside any accommodation and any interested mediation typical of the discipline, which passes for a positive affirmation of the secular nature of the Italian state.
