Nr. 2/2021STEFANO TESTA BAPPENHEIM The new Quebec Law on the Secularity of the State: first critical remarks in the case law
ABSTRACT
The paper deals with the problem of displaying crucifixes in classrooms in the light of case law on the subject. Particular attention is paid to the recent ruling on the subject by the unified sections of the Italian Court of Cassation. The decision of the Supreme Court arose from the case of a teacher who removed the crucifix from the classroom. The students protested and the school headmaster asked the teacher to respect their will. The teacher was suspended from his duties and salary for thirty days because of this behavior in the matter and because he had uttered insulting expressions towards the headmaster.
