ABSTRACT
The paper examines the latest developments in bilateral negotiations between the State and religious denominations, forty years after the Agreements amending the 1929 Lateran Concordat and the signing of the first agreement under Article 8, paragraph 3, with the Waldensian Table. The recent conclusion of new Concordats in different territorial contexts – such as Africa and South America – highlights the vitality of the Concordat as a tool through which the renewed international mission of the Holy See in defense of human rights is carried out.
