Nr. 2/2021MARIA D’ARIENZO Brief reflections on the Verbal Note of the Holy See’s Secretariat of State on the so-called “Ddl Zan”
ABSTRACT
The article examines the restauration, wanted by the Emperor Augustus, of the old Collegium Fratrum Arvalium in the general framework of renewing and innovating the religious propaganda, intended to support and strengthen the new political institution of the principate. Romulus, denying the value of the blood biological brotherhood, violently killed his twin-brother. He built the Collegium with the sons of Acca Larentia – each of them generated by a different father – and joined it as duodecimus frater, proposing a new model of harmonic and peaceful brotherhood. Similarly, Augustus, as parens omnium, wanted to point out that all the Roman citizens were united by a new bond of eternal adoptive brotherhood.
