ABSTRACT
Despite the fact that Article 7 of the Ugandan Constitution states expressis verbis that there is no State religion, and despite the fact that the Anglican Church of Uganda is open to the possibility, and the Ugandan Catholic Bishops’ Conference has moved from a closed approach to a more open one, on the basis of “Amoris Laetitia”, the Ugandan Constitutional Court ruled that the Anti-homosexuality Act of 2023 was not unconstitutional, appealing to the socio-cultural and religious roots of the Ugandan people.
