ABSTRACT
This paper aims to share the findings of a reflection on the management potential of the Fondo Edifici di Culto – FEC related to the prospects for the social valorisation of the heritage (non- and interest-bearing assets) in the light of the European guidelines and multidisciplinary tools developed on the subject of cultural heritage. These tools were applied in an ex post evaluation of the outcomes of the socio-cultural initiatives promoted by the FEC for the recovery of the Church of Sant’Aspreno ai Crociferi in Naples and of the related socio-educational initiatives for the rehabilitation of young offenders from justice system. The ex post evaluation enabled the derivation of guiding criteria which, in an ex ante evaluation, could be employed to formulate a hypothesis for the conversion of disused interest-bearing properties into intercultural-interreligious spaces as a performing example of assets valorisation.
