ABSTRACT

The holiday is the circumstance in which behaviors are manifested, first of all through the common identification of the day, but also through food, music and dances, family recognition rites and the manifestation of traditions, clothing, habits and customs. It represents one of the moments during which community bonds are tightened, barriers falldown and the idea of diversity is loosened.

In this context, a significant place is occupied by religious holidays that have shown they can keep up with the times. Infact, as this paper shows, in recent years there has been a transformation of the religious phenomenon, resulting in changes to all the contexts in which it is expressed, including the dimension of religion and, consequently, religious holidays. Therefore, they retain ancient origins and are part of the traditional heritage of the country, even if they have acquired new aspects, but also falling within the issues in continuous evolution in modern society.
